In the mood for a drive?
This is a route connecting Lake Inawashiro and Fukushima city, passing through Mt. Adatara and of course the wonderful spots along the way. There are volcanic activities in the mountain area so you’ll pass by some nice onsens, or you can drop by and see the Mt. Azuma- Kofuji crater too.
Because of the high altitude, it’s relatively cooler and autumn comes by earlier than the cities. So if you want to enjoy the autumn foliage, you can take advantage of this throughout the season, starting off at high areas then slowly working your way down to the cities.
This is one of the nice spots to enjoy the autumn foliage so you’d better time your trip because the roads do get crowded at times. The thing about driving and enjoying the scenery is you can park your car by the roadside for a few minutes to take photos and then quickly drive away. This is only possible if there are a few cars in the area. I’ve seen a couple of people on motorbikes and even on road bicycles too.
Let me know if you’ve tried it!
